Meet the Maker: Austin Feathers

TeslaAustin Feathers is a junior at Shawnee Mission South, where he is active in the Robotics Club and Science Olympiad.  When not having fun with high volotage, he can ussually be found working on my other projects, such as my current one which is turning a large deisel turbo charger into a propane and diesel fired jet engine.  This will be his second such jet engine.

A Tesla coil is a type of resonant transformer circuit invented by Nikola Tesla around 1891. It is used to produce high voltage, low current, high frequency alternating current electricity, and results in spectacular mini “lightning” shows. Tesla used these coils to conduct innovative experiments in electrical lighting, phosphorescence, x-ray generation, high frequency alternating current phenomena, electrotherapy, and the transmission of electrical energy without wires.
